Tehran center to host exhibit by Swiss photog George Gerster

TEHRAN – A collection of over 100 photos of Iran by George Gerster, an acclaimed Swiss pioneer of aerial photography, will be showcased in an exhibition, which will open at Tehran’s Niavaran Cultural Center on Friday.
The exhibit titled “Iran through the Eyes of Homa” will display aerial photos of Iran’s natural environs and some archaeological sites, monuments and cultural centers, which were taken in the 1970s.
Gerster had the opportunity to record the landscape of Iran on over 100 flights in 1976 and 1978. He published his unique collection in a book titled “Paradise Lost: Persia from Above”.
He has previously showcased the photos in exhibitions titled “Persia: Paradise Lost” and “Iran: a Bird’s Eye View” in New York, London and Paris from 2009 to 2014, but this is his first exhibition in Iran.
Gerster is currently in Tehran to promote his photo exhibition, which will run until October 1.
